The Queensland Greens have thrown their support behind a rally happening in Brisbane this evening to proests against the state government's removal of funding from the state's only HIV prevention service working with the gay & lesbian community. The rally is also protesting plans to scrap civil union rights for same sex couples.
The Queensland Greens state that Campbell Newman's comments this afternoon on the Galilee Basin and on the reef are a breach of election promises as well as seeking to wind back the political clock to a previous era.
Under questioning from the Greens today, Australian Government has acknowledged it has the power to use the national environment laws to protect Wild Rivers from Campbell Newman and a future LNP Queensland Government, which has pledged to roll back the laws against the wishes of many Aboriginal communities.
‘Frank & fearless advice’ Newman seeks from public service not just a question of ‘cultural change’
Mr Newman clearly does not realise that a professional and impartial public service requires an end to political appointments and the practice of culling the upper echelons following a change of government.
The Queensland Greens have echoed today’s call by the Electrical Trades Union for a straight answer from Campbell Newman on his plans for the State’s publicly-owned assets.
