About
My name is Jake Schoermer and I would be proud to represent the people of Moggill in the Queensland State Parliament.
I have lived in the electorate for more than half of my life, I completed my primary school at the local Moggill State School, completed secondary school in Karabin and generally lived in and around the surrounding areas for much of my life.
Since then I have undertaken study at the University of Queensland (Studying Information Technology, Modern History and Political Science). I have recently moved to St Lucia to be closer to work and the University but still make regular trips out to the Moggill area where I have family and business ties.
I also work as a Web Developer and Designer and am highly active in the Brisbane Tech scene and have also completed an undergraduate research project in this field at the University.
One of my passions is for open-source software and open data format. It is my belief that the in our modern world it is important to make improve the availabilty of information, to improve collaboration between people and improve the lives of all.
Part of this process will involve improving environmental sustainability. It is time to think long-term for without having our environment in order we cannot achieve our own personal long term goals.
