About

Sally is a passionate advocate for transparent and responsible government, as well as social and environmental sustainability.

Sally Spain was educated and is a long term resident on the Goad Coast. She has been involved with the conservation movement, on the Gold Coast, protecting the most bio-diverse area in Australia, since she was a student. Sally is devoted to promoting and protecting our special city. Also she has a strong interest in the arts, education and writing poetry.

Sally has been involved in Community advocacy for many years and her roles included President of Wildlife Queensland’s Gold Coast Branch, past President of Citizens for Coomera Valley Residents Association, committee member of the Gold Coast Environment Council (Gecko) and President of the local Girl Guides Support Group.

Sally is a Greens’ candidate who is passionate about life on the Gold Coast and in particular Mudgeeraba.

Sally is principled and fair and will deliver fresh ideas with practical solutions for the residents of Mudgeeraba.

Policies

Sally is keen to:

  • Protect and enhance the natural assets of the Springbrook World Heritage National Park,
  • Promote the Gold Coast as a world class tourist destination
  • Strengthen community program and community housing to address homelessness, and at-risk youth
  • Extend and strengthen anti-truancy, anti-bullying, and youth services to implement programs to stop anti-social behaviour.
  • Review planning and bring in more stringent controls with regard to development in flood prone areas including review and improve evacuation and safety shelters.
  • Increase front-line police numbers, preventative crime programs to strengthen community safety.
  • Ensure state government works with city councils to ensure large scale city parks and open spaces for recreation, visual amenity, green corridors, and native habitat conservation.
  • Ensure we have the State sponsored theatre company, symphony orchestra, ballet company, cultural centre and cultural festivals that designate the Gold Coast as an outstanding and iconic city of culture. 
  • Ensure there are limits to growth in order that the city remains competitive and sustainable in terms of livability, resale, amenity, natural assets, future diversification and the natural environment.
