Candidate for Buderim

About

Sue is a born and bred Queenslander, and has lived and worked on the Sunshine Coast for most of her life.

Sue has spent over 30 years working in Banking and Finance, and is currently the Accounts Manager of a local business. She is a registered BAS Agent, and is studying to complete her Advanced Diploma of Accounting.  

Sue has been involved in volunteering for several organisations over the past fifteen years.  These include; President and Treasurer for Buderim Guides, Supervisor at Maroochydore/Buderim Blue Light Disco, Parent Volunteer at her children’s school, and she is currently Treasurer of the Maroochy Greens.  She was a finalist in the Buderim Quiet Achievers’ Awards of 2009

In her spare time, Sue enjoys music, gardening, reading and trekking, and has recently returned from Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The highlight to date has been walking the Kokoda Track in PNG as a tribute to her late father who served there in WW2.

Policies

Sue supports The Greens vision of a balance between providing a fair and sustainable lifestyle for now, and offering a fair and sustainable future for generations to come.

She has identified the following as priorities:

  • moratorium on coal seam gas mining
  • food and water security
  • renewable energy 
  • efficient, affordable and reliable public transport
  • affordable housing
  • better funding of education
  • improvements in ambulance, dental care, mental health, and other health services
  • improved funding for early intervention and preventative health programmes
  • improved transparency and accountability in government
  • no uranium mining
